After the unrealistic expectations created during the internet bubble in the late 90's, I know there are many disillusioned and distrustful IT (Information Technology) consumers out there.

However, the fact remains, that many companies have reaped huge benefits from their IT investments. To name just a few: Dell Computer Corp. with its build-to-order system, eBay which created a new way of selling with its online auction market, JetBlue Airways Corp. which uses IT for everything from reservations to updating pilots' flight manuals on laptops.

These are companies that have learned to use IT in imaginative ways and have successfully managed changes to the way they do business; and that's the key: managing change.

It's simply not enough to invest in web sites, equip all your employees with laptop computers, buy the latest CRM (Customer Relationship Management) software, and then sit back and wait for your profits to grow.

IT is not a miracle solution. It can, through hard, well planned and often painful work, lead to huge productivity gains. Equally, poorly implemented projects often result in disappointment and even disaster.

If you want to increase productivity and are committed to change, give me a call, I might well be able to help.

After several years in the Royal Navy "messing about in boats", Mark moved to the City of London University where he obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Systems and Management.

For close to 20 years, Mark has been working in various industries for companies both large and small as a Controller, Financial Director, Software Product Manager and IT Director.

Having been responsible for both buying and selling IT products and services, Mark has a unique prospective of the complexity and frustration endured by managers on both sides of the IT divide.

He founded Markitquest in the belief that he could pass on some of that experience and help others benefit from Information Technology.
